Philip Stejskal on Lunchbox Architect
Philip Stejskal Architecture is a Fremantle-based practice working across Perth, from the Swan River and the Perth Hills to suburbs ranging from City Beach to Leederville. Its studio sits in the Princess Chambers building on Market Street in the centre of Fremantle.
The practice believes the benefits of good design should be enjoyed by the many, not the few. Rather than following trends, its approach is guided by the German idea of Gesamtkunstwerk, a total work of art, and it aims to create homes that suit their owners now and well into the future. It works with families, young couples and empty nesters, and has also developed infill, multi-residential, public and community projects.
On Lunchbox, the practice's work includes Bellevue Terrace Extension, which reconnects an 1890s Fremantle duplex with its garden; Blinco Street House, a new Fremantle home with a cool, calm, monastic quality; and Parmelia Street House, a new home built around a century-old cottage.
